The Society of Genealogists offers a unique combination of research material, guidance and support for those interested in family history and the lives of earlier generations. It is a charity whose objects are to "promote, encourage and foster the study, science and knowledge of genealogy".

Association of Professional Genealogists

APG strives to support, guide, and protect all aspects of genealogy as a profession and promotes the highest standard of ethics and professionalism among our members.

   
National Genealogical Society

The National Genealogical Society is an indispensable resource for genealogists and family historians seeking excellence in educational offerings, publications and materials, research and research guidance, and opportunities to interact with others.

   
Free BMD & FreeREG FreeBMD is an ongoing project, the aim of which is to transcribe the Civil Registration index of births, marriages and deaths for England and Wales, and to provide free Internet access to the transcribed records.  It is a part of the FreeUKGEN family, which also includes FreeCEN (Census data) and FreeREG (Parish Registers).

Chapman Codes Identify administrative divisions in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, covering historical divisions. They were created by Dr Colin Chapman, and are widely used in genealogy.
